Carlos Quentin homered and drove in five while Adam Dunn made himself right at home in the American League with a two-run blast, as the visiting Chicago White Sox pounded out 18 hits en route to a 15-10 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Friday.
Gordon Beckham chipped in three hits and scored three runs and rookie Brent Morel drove in a pair for the White Sox.
Fausto Carmona got the Opening Day nod for the Indians and did not have his best stuff, allowing a pair of runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Paul Konerko and Quentin. Chicago started piling on in the third when Quentin and Dunn each reached Carmona for two-run homers to push it to 6-0.
The White Sox really opened it up in the fourth with eight more runs, getting two-run doubles from Dunn and Quentin to spark the rally. Carmona (0-1) lasted three-plus innings and was charged with 10 runs on 11 hits.
Mark Buehrle (1-0) made his ninth career Opening Day start for Chicago and worked five scoreless frames before getting touched for four runs in the sixth - his final inning.
Carlos Santana homered and drove in three for Cleveland, which made it respectable with 10 runs over the final four innings.
