The Washington Nationals snapped a 20-inning scoreless streak in style with six home runs en route to a 17-5 clubbing of the host Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.
The runs and home runs set Nationals records - the team moved to Washington from Montreal in 2005.
Washington, which was coming off back-to-back shutouts against the Mets, pounded five Baltimore pitchers for 19 hits and scored in seven of the nine innings. The attack was led by Jayson Werth, who was 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs, and Danny Espinosa, who was 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, triple and five RBIs.
Washington also got two-run homers from Roger Bernadina and Laynce Nix, and a solo homer from Wilson Ramos.
Henry Rodriguez (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings in relief of starter Jason Marquis, who allowed eight hits and five runs in four innings.
Baltimore starter Jake Arrieta (5-2) was tagged for six runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings.
