Justin Masterson won his third straight start with seven strong innings and Asdrubal Cabrera drove in four runs to lead the host Cleveland Indians to an 8-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.
The Indians (9-4) are in first place in the American League Central. The Orioles (6-6) have lost five in a row.
Cabrera's two-run single keyed a four-run third inning that began with six straight hits. He had another two-run single in the seventh. Both hits came with the bases loaded.
Cleveland's Travis Hafner hit his third homer, a solo shot in the sixth. He also had a sacrifice fly in the third. Shin-Soo Choo added an RBI double in the seventh.
Masterson (3-0) allowed one run and four hits. He retired the first nine batters before Brian Roberts singled to lead off the fourth. Luke Scott had an RBI single later in the inning for the Orioles' only run. Masterson has given up three runs in 20 1/3 innings.
Zach Britton (2-1) allowed five runs and eight hits in six innings. Britton, who allowed one run in his first two starts, retired the first six batters Friday, but ran into trouble in the third.
Matt LaPorta tripled and scored on Lou Marson's single. Adam Everett's single and a bunt hit by Michael Brantley loaded the bases before Cabrera lined a single up the middle. Following a single by Choo, Hafner's sacrifice fly scored Brantley.
