Adrian Beltre had three hits, including a two-run homer that capped a six-run third inning, as the visiting Texas Rangers gained a split of the doubleheader with a 13-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night.
Beltre had three RBIs and scored three times for the Rangers (7-1). Nelson Cruz had his fifth home run and four RBIs, Josh Hamilton two hits and two RBIs and Mike Napoli added two hits, including a homer, for Texas.
Matt Harrison (2-0) gave up two hits and a run over seven innings for the victory, retiring the last 18 batters he faced.
Adam Jones had two hits, including his second home run in three games that gave the Orioles (6-2) a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Baltimore starter Jake Arrieta (1-1) got the first six Rangers in order, but was knocked around in the third. Elvis Andrus and Hamilton had two-run singles and Beltre hit his second homer on a 0-2 count.
The Rangers, who lost the first game 5-0, scored two more in the fourth on Napoli’s third homer and Ian Kinsler’s RBI double.
Arrieta gave up eight runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings.
