Tim Lincecum remained perfect through four starts for the first time in his career with seven solid innings as the San Francisco Giants snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.
Lincecum (4-0) allowed one run and six hits. He struck out eight and walked three.
Yadier Molina had an RBI single in the sixth inning for the only St. Louis run.
San Francisco closer Brian Wilson struck out the side in the ninth for his third save of the season.
Some shaky St. Louis defense helped the Giants build a 3-0 lead.
Andres Torres doubled to lead off the first and Mark DeRosa followed with an infield single with Torres scoring on Brendan Ryan’s throwing error.
In the third inning, San Francisco had runners on first and second with none out when Cardinals second baseman Skip Schumaker committed an error on Aubrey Huff’s groundball that allowed DeRosa to score from second. Nate Schierholtz added an RBI single later in the inning.
San Francisco’s lead grew to 4-0 in the fifth inning when Huff scored on a wild pitch.
St. Louis starter Jaime Garcia (1-1) allowed four runs -- two earned -- on seven hits in six innings to take the loss.
