Yadier Molina drove in three runs, Nick Stavinoha knocked in two in a rare start and the St. Louis Cardinals won 11-4 on Sunday at PNC Park to take two of three from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Cardinals broke out of a brief offensive slump with 11 runs and 11 hits after scoring only seven runs in their previous five games. St. Louis roughed up starter Paul Maholm (2-3) for six runs - four earned - on six hits before chasing him with one out in the fourth, and they dinged reliever Brian Bass for five runs in the sixth.
St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright (5-1) walked two and gave up five hits, allowing two runs over six innings while striking out six. He has not allowed more than three runs in any of his seven starts this season.
Molina picked up one RBI on a bases-loaded walk in the third and added two more on a single in the sixth. Stavinoha, starting in place of Matt Holliday (groin), drove in two with a double in the third. Joe Mather and Ryan Ludwick each had two hits and an RBI for the Cardinals.
Pittsburgh's runs came on Garrett Jones' two-run single in the fourth and RBI singles by Ronny Cedeno and Delwyn Young in the ninth.
