Jimmy Rollins belted a two-run homer, Ben Francisco added a solo shot and right-hander Kyle Kendrick went the distance as the Philadelphia Phillies cruised to a 12-4 triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.
Shane Victorino had three hits – including an RBI triple – and Ryan Howard drove in three on a pair of singles for Philadelphia (42-37), which snapped a three-game losing streak.
Dane Sardinha and Jayson Werth both had RBI doubles and Cody Ransom added a run-scoring single as the entire starting lineup recorded at least one hit in this one.
That was more than enough offense for Kendrick (5-3). The 25-year-old allowed four runs and 10 hits while striking out four to pick up the win.
Rookie Pedro Alvarez belted his first career home run, Ryan Church added a solo shot and Ronny Cedeno had an RBI double for the cellar-dwelling Pirates (29-52), who were unsuccessful in their bid for a season-high four-game winning streak.
Paul Maholm (5-7) was battered early and often. The 28-year-old left-hander permitted eight runs and 10 hits in three innings to take the loss.
