Oscar Salazar's pinch-hit RBI single plated Chase Headley in the top of the 10th inning as the San Diego Padres recorded a 6-5 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.

Adrian Gonzalez belted a two-run homer and added an RBI single for San Diego (33-23), which notched just its second win its last five contests.

Nick Hundley blasted a solo shot and former Phillies player Matt Stairs also had a run-scoring single for the Padres, who belted out 16 hits in the game.

Headley singled to center to lead off the 10th and advanced to second and third courtesy of a sacrifice by Nick Hundley and groundout by Will Venable. Tony Gwynn was intentionally walked to put runners on the corners when Salazar's single off Danys Baez (2-2) brought home the winning run.

Mike Adams (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win and Heath Bell worked out of a jam in the bottom of the 10th to notch his 15th save of the season.

Two-run singles by both Placido Polanco and Ryan Howard highlighted a four-run second inning for Philadelphia (30-25), which saw its modest two-game winning streak come to an end.

The Phillies' offense has also returned after a prolonged slump. The team entered this series having scored 14 runs in its last 11 contests, but has plated 14 runs in its last three games.
