Zach Duke outpitched Roy Halladay and the Pittsburgh Pirates eliminated some of the demons that have plagued them in Philadelphia, snapping a six-game losing streak at Citizens Bank Park with a 2-1 victory Tuesday night.

Duke (3-4) limited the National League’s most potent offense to just one run and six hits over six innings. Evan Meek, Joel Hanrahan and Octavio Dotel each pitched a scoreless inning of relief, with Dotel earning his eighth save for the Pirates (17-22). All three relievers did not allow a hit over the final three innings.

Garrett Jones snapped a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the sixth inning off Halladay, who pitched a complete game in defeat. Halladay scattered nine hits and only two runs in going the distance, falling to 6-2 this season for the Phillies (24-14), who saw their five-game winning streak snapped.

Andy LaRoche opened the scoring for the Pirates with a second-inning double.

Juan Castro tied the game with a single in the fifth inning, but the Phillies lost a chance to take the lead on the play when Jayson Werth was thrown out at home by Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen.
