Rod Barajas belted a pair of solo home runs and added a run-scoring double against his former team and Jonathon Niese pitched seven strong innings as the New York Mets recorded their eighth straight victory with a 9-1 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.

Jenrry Mejica bridged the gap to Manny Acosta, who recorded the final three outs to preserve the win.
Carlos Ruiz had an RBI single and Jayson Werth collected two hits for the Phillies, who have lost eight of their last 12 games.
Kyle Kendrick (0-1) allowed four runs and five hits in five innings to take the loss.
