Aubrey Huff, Buster Posey and Jose Guillen all homered and Jonathan Sanchez struck out a career-high 12 batters as the San Francisco Giants moved into first place with a 10-2 rout of the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.
Huff hit a three-homer and Posey followed with a solo homer during a four-run third inning that gave San Francisco an early 5-1 lead. Guillen hit a two-run shot in the fifth as San Francisco took a half-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West.
Sanchez (11-8) gave up two runs – one earned – and four hits in seven innings. The often-wild Sanchez didn’t walk a single hitter.
Dodgers starter Ted Lilly (8-11) lasted just 3 1/3 innings while losing his third straight decision. Lilly allowed six runs and seven hits.
Freddy Sanchez joined Huff in having a three-RBI night.
Edgar Renteria went 4-for-5 and Guillen 3-for-3 as San Francisco pounded out 15 hits. The Giants had eight extra-base hits.
