Matt Kemp returned to the lineup with three hits, including a homer, and three RBIs and Rafael Furcal had a homer among four hits as the Los Angeles Dodgers routed the San Francisco Giants 8-2 Wednesday afternoon.
Kemp, who had sat out three consecutive starts, hit a solo home run and had two RBI singles. He had gone 10-for-62 entering Tuesday’s game but replaced Manny Ramirez in the first inning after Ramirez injured his right hamstring while sliding trying to get back to second base.
Furcal drove in two runs and Jamey Carroll had two hits and scored three times as the Dodgers swept San Francisco for the first time since 2007.
Dodgers starter Vicente Padilla (2-2) picked up the win by allowing just three hits in seven innings. He struck out five and walked one.
Aaron Rowand, who suffered a broken cheekbone when he was hit by an inside pitch from Padilla on April 16, exacted some revenge by homering off the right-hander in the sixth while adding two singles.
Jonathan Sanchez (6-6) fell to 0-5 against the Dodgers by giving up four earned runs in five innings as the Giants lost their fifth consecutive game.
