Andre Ethier homered twice and Hiroki Kuroda pitched eight innings to help the Los Angeles Dodgers finish a sweep of the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates with a 9-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.
Ethier hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning and a solo homer in the eighth. He went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, also driving in a run with a third-inning single. Ethier hit four homers in the three-game sweep of the Pirates.
Kuroda allowed one run and five hits while improving to 3-1.
Blake DeWitt went 4-for-4 with three RBIs as the Dodgers pounded out 16 hits against three Pittsburgh pitchers. James Loney went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
The modest three-game winning streak is the Dodgers’ longest of the season.
Pirates starter Jeff Karstens (0-1) allowed six runs and 11 innings in five innings in his second start of the season.
Garrett Jones was involved with all three Pittsburgh runs. Jones had a leadoff double in the fourth and scored on Andy LaRoche’s groundout. He had an RBI-double in the ninth and scored on Bobby Crosby’s double.
