David Wright had three hits and drove in four runs to carry the New York Mets to a 10-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the nightcap of Tuesday’s doubleheader.
Rookie Ike Davis drove in three runs and Jose Reyes and Jason Bay each recorded RBIs for the Mets, who posted a 4-0 win over the Dodgers in the makeup of Monday’s rainout earlier in the day.
The Mets broke the game open with seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Davis had a two-run double that gave his club a three-run cushion and Wright cleared the bases with a triple in the sixth for the 10-3 advantage.
Hisanori Takahashi (2-1) earned the win with 3 1/3 innings in relief of Oliver Perez, who was pulled after allowing three runs and four walks in 3 2/3 frames.
Los Angeles starter Charlie Haeger (0-3) was roughed up for five runs on five hits over five innings of work.
Trailing 3-0, the Dodgers, who had been shutout in consecutive games, regrouped to even things up on the strength of three runs in the fourth. Ronnie Belliard brought in a run with a fielder’s choice, A.J. Ellis had an RBI single and Reed Johnson drew a bases-loaded walk.
