The Houston Astros pounded out 15 hits and put up four runs in the sixth inning to down the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-7 on Friday.
The Astros trailed 5-4 before Hunter Pence delivered a big two-run double in the sixth. He finished with three hits and three RBIs, while Angel Sanchez and Jeff Keppinger each drove in a pair for Houston.
Pittsburgh narrowed the gap to 8-7 on an RBI sacrifice fly from Pedro Alvarez in the bottom of the seventh, but the Astros added two more runs in the ninth to put the game out of reach.
Houston's Brett Myers (14-7) gave up six runs - five earned - on four hits through six innings to pick up the win. Brandon Lyon worked the ninth to pick up his 19th save of the year.
Pirates starter James McDonald allowed three runs over four innings of work and reliever Chris Leroux (0-1) took the loss after giving up three runs while recording just one out.
Pittsburgh first baseman Garrett Jones had two hits and four RBIs while Andy LaRoche hit his fourth home run of the year.
