Matt Cain took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Aaron Rowand drove in a pair as the San Francisco Giants completed a three-game sweep of the Florida Marlins with a 6-3 victory on Thursday.
Mark DeRosa added a pair of RBIs and Nate Schierholtz hit a solo homer in the fifth for the Giants, who have won five of six to move into first place in the National League West.
Cain held the Marlins hitless until Chris Coghlan singled to center with two outs in the sixth. The right-handed Cain allowed a run in the seventh and was lifted after surrendering a double and a walk to begin the eighth.
Cain (2-1) struck out six and walked three and was charged with two runs on four hits.
Usually stagnant when Cain takes the mound, the San Francisco offense showed up early and often on Thursday, pushing single runs across in the second, third and fifth off Ricky Nolasco (2-2) before breaking through for three runs off right-hander Chris Leroux in the seventh.
Rowand finished the game 2-for-4 and ended up with seven RBIs in the three-game set.
Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla each drove in a run for the Marlins, who fell to two games below .500 at 13-15.
