Josh Johnson struck out 12 batters in a complete game and had three hits with three RBIs in leading the Florida Marlins to a 10-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Monday.
Johnson (2-1) limited the Padres to three hits against one walk and now has hit double-digits in strikeouts in both of his victories this season.
The Marlins chased starter Mat Latos (1-2) in the third, pounding the 22-year-old right-hander for seven runs on seven hits. The last straw was Johnson's second run-scoring hit of the contest, a two-run single up the middle that made it 7-0.
Hanley Ramirez hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot off Latos in the first, and Dan Uggla added a two-run blast off Sean Gallagher in the fourth to make it 9-0. He also had an RBI single in the four-run third and finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs. Gaby Sanchez had a pair of RBIs for the Marlins.
Matt Stairs drove in San Diego's only run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. After winning eight consecutive games, the Padres have now lost two in a row.
