Jeff Suppan pitched six scoreless innings and Brendan Ryan had two hits and an RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals ended the season with a 6-1 over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.
Mike Pagnozzi added two RBIs and Skip Schumaker chipped in two hits and scored a run for the Cardinals, who swept the four-game series.
Suppan (3-8) surrendered five hits and walked one while striking out five to end his season on a high note. The veteran right-hander was let go by the Milwaukee Brewers earlier in the season, but allowed one run or fewer in three of his last four starts.
St. Louis grabbed a pair of runs in the third when Rockies second baseman Chris Nelson made an error on Albert Pujols’ ground ball, allowing Schumaker and Randy Winn to score. The Cardinals added two more in the fourth on RBI singles by Pagnozzi and Ryan, along with single runs in the sixth and seventh to put it away.
Esmil Rogers (2-3) suffered the loss for the Rockies, allowing four runs - two earned - and seven hits in four frames.
