Matt Holliday’s single led to the lone run in the 11th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Colorado Rockies 1-0 on Saturday.

Knotted in a scoreless battle all afternoon, the Rockies brought in left-hander Franklin Morales (0-4) to start the 11th. Morales walked the first two batters he faced before Holliday sent a single into shallow right. Ryan Spilborghs misplayed the hit, allowing Pedro Feliz to score the game-winning run.

Jason Motte (4-2) struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the win.

Ubaldo Jimenez was denied his 20th win of the season once again despite allowing three hits and walking two while striking out 10 in eight innings. The 26-year-old right-hander was 15-1 at the All-Star break but has been hampered by some bad luck and poor run support down the stretch, going just 4-6 despite allowing three runs or less in 10 of his last 13 starts.

He finishes the season 19-8 with 214 strikeouts and a 2.88 ERA.

Kyle Lohse matched Jimenez through seven, surrendering just three hits while walking four and striking out five. The right-hander entered the game with a 7.09 ERA after allowing a total of 10 runs in nine innings over his last two outings but had little trouble with a Colorado lineup that has managed only one run in three games during the series.
