Carlos Gonzalez and Todd Helton each drove in a pair of runs as the Colorado Rockies contributed to San Diego’s ongoing misery with a 6-2 victory over the Padres on Saturday.

Gonzalez finished with three hits and a stolen bases and Troy Tulowitzki had two hits and scored a pair of runs to back a solid effort by starter Jason Hammel.

The loss was the ninth in a row for struggling San Diego, which entered the day with a three-game lead over San Francisco in the National league West.

Hammel (10-7) surrendered two runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings. Four relievers kept the scoreboard clean the rest of the way.

Things were nip and tuck throughout until Colorado put the game away for good with three runs in the eighth. Ryan Spilborghs walked to open the frame and came around to score on Dexter Fowler’s infield single. Gonzalez then promptly laced a double to deep right that plated Clint Barmes and Fowler for the four-run bulge.

Adrian Gonzalez and Nick Hundley drove in a run apiece, while starter Jon Garland (13-10) was saddled with the loss for the Padres.
