Scott Hariston drove in four runs and Jerry Hairston added two more RBIs to prevent the San Diego Padres from being swept at Petco Park with a 13-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.
Everth Cabrera and starting pitcher Clayton Richard each drove in a pair of runs for the Padres in the 14-hit attack in regrouping from a pair of losses.
Most of the damage was done in the middle innings off Colorado starter Jeff Francis as San Diego scored six runs in the fourth inning, including a bases-loaded double by Scott Hariston, to push the lead to 9-2, before adding four more runs in the sixth.
Eight of the runs were charged to Francis (2-3), who went three innings and allowed seven hits and three walks.
San Diego starter Clayton Richard (6-4) picked up the win with seven strong innings. He allowed five hits and two runs with 10 strikeouts.
Richard gave up a two-run double to Jonathan Herrera in the second inning, but otherwise was in control of the game.
Seth Smith brought in Colorado’s other run with a double in the eighth.
