Miguel Olivo homered and drove in four runs to power the Colorado Rockies to a 10-8 win over the San Diego Padres on Monday night.
Carlos Gonzalez and Ryan Spilborghs each had two-run homers and Seth Smith added a solo shot in helping starter Ubaldo Jimenez improve to a major-league best 14-1 despite a second consecutive shaky start.
After giving up six earned runs in his last outing, Jimenez allowed four runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in six innings. All the damage came in his final frame after he tossed five hitless innings.
Olivo doubled to left field off San Diego starter Brian Corriea in the third to drive in two runs and make it 4-0. The Colorado catcher then powered a two-run shot off Corriea in the fifth to extend it further.
Corriea (5-6), who was struggling coming into his outing, allowed six earned runs on seven hits with six walks and three strikeouts in five innings.
Spilborghs added a two-run shot for the Rockies in the sixth inning for an 8-0 advantage, but the bullpen nearly surrendered it by allowing San Diego to close within 8-6.
Scott Harrison did most of the damage with a three-run shot off Jimenez in the sixth and then adding an RBI double in the seventh.
