Nelson Figueroa tossed six-plus strong innings against the Cincinnati Reds’ backups to lead the Houston Astros to a 2-0 victory on Wednesday.

Carlos Lee and Brett Wallace each drove in runs for the Astros, who snapped a three-game slide as they attempt to finish the regular season strong.

The Reds, who clinched the NL Central on Tuesday, rested all of their regulars with the exception of starting pitcher Johnny Cueto (12-7), who allowed two runs - one earned - and eight hits in seven innings while tuning up for the postseason with 101 pitches.

Figueroa (6-4) carved up the Reds in this one. He allowed six hits while striking out five and walking three in 6 2/3 innings to snap a three-start winless streak.

Houston got on the board right away in the first inning when Jeff Keppinger sent a one-out double into left field and came home when Lee doubled two batters later. The Astros added an insurance run in the sixth when Lee scored on a groundout by Wallace.

Two relievers bridged the gap to closer Brandon Lyon, who worked the ninth for his 20th save.
