Aramis Ramirez and Tyler Colvin hit home runs to lead Chicago’s 12-hit attack and the Cubs snapped a four-game losing streak with an 8-5 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday.
Ramirez broke out of a 2-for-28 slump with three hits and two RBIs, including his fifth homer of the season. Colvin added a double and a two-run homer, and Koyie Hill had two hits and two RBIs. Marlon Byrd had three hits, including an RBI double.
Cubs starter Ryan Dempster (4-5) allowed three runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. Two of the three runs came on solo homers by Jeff Keppinger and Humberto Quintero.
Astros starter Roy Oswalt (3-8) gave up both of Chicago's homers, allowing six runs on nine hits over seven innings to take the loss.
The Astros got the tying run to the on-deck circle in the ninth, but Carlos Marmol retired Geoff Blum and Michael Bourn to record his 12th save in 14 opportunities.
Quintero added an RBI double in the ninth as the loss snapped Houston's four-game winning streak.
