Tim Hudson returned to form with seven strong innings and Alex Gonzalez hit a two-run double as the wild card-leading Atlanta Braves posted a 4-2 victory over the New York Mets.
Nate McLouth homered and drove in two runs while Derrek Lee collected two hits and scored twice for the Braves, who improved to 2-0 on their nine-game road trip.
Hudson (16-8) snapped a personal three-game losing streak, allowing two runs and six hits. The veteran right-hander, who walked one and struck out seven, improved to 13-6 lifetime against New York.
McLouth gave Atlanta a 1-0 lead in the second inning with an RBI double, but Jose Reyes knotted the contest in the third with a leadoff homer, his 11th of the season.
Brian McCann ignited the decisive rally for the Braves in the fourth, beginning the inning with a double and moving to third on Lee's single. One out later, Gonzalez doubled to center field to plate both runners before getting thrown out at third base.
McLouth capped the scoring in the ninth with a solo shot, his sixth of the year.
Jonny Venters worked a scoreless eighth inning and former Met Billy Wagner struck out the side in the ninth for his 35th save in 42 opportunities.
Dillon Gee (1-1) surrendered three runs and six hits in seven innings en route to his first career loss. The 24-year old walked three and struck out three.
Luis Hernandez also homered for the Mets, who have lost two in a row after winning four straight.
