Jair Jurrjens threw seven strong innings, and Alex Gonzalez and Troy Glaus drove in four runs apiece to help the Atlanta Braves break out of an offensive slump with a 13-1 pounding of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon.
Jurrjens (5-4) allowed one run on six hits over seven innings, striking out seven to improve to 5-1 since coming off the disabled list June 30. The Braves haven't allowed more than two runs in any of their last five games and have allowed more than three runs only once in their last 14 games.
After scoring one run in each of the first two games of the series, the Braves racked up 16 hits and posted three four-run innings. Gonzalez's two-run triple capped a four-run third inning, and Glaus hit a three-run homer to spark the four-run fifth. Gonzalez added a sacrifice fly in the sixth and an RBI single in the eighth, and Glaus tacked on a run-scoring single in the eighth.
Atlanta leadoff man Omar Infante went 3-for-5 and scored three runs, giving him seven hits in the series. Los Angeles outfielder Scott Podsednik led off the game with a double to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
Dodgers starter Vicente Padilla (6-4) continued his struggles on the road, allowing eight runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings to lose for only the second time in nine starts.
