Garret Anderson’s walk-off single in the bottom of the 14th inning gave the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Arizona has now lost 10 in a row, hasn’t scored in 31 innings and for the first time in franchise history, went winless on a nine-game road trip.
Matt Kemp led off the 14th with a single off reliever Cesar Valdez (1-2) and moved to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Anderson singled to center on a sinking liner to score Kemp. It was Arizona’s fourth straight walk-off defeat.
Travis Schlichting (1-0) picked up the win after four scoreless innings of relief.
Diamondbacks starter Edwin Jackson went nine scoreless innings, allowing three hits and three walks with six strikeouts. All three hits surrendered were to Jamey Carroll.
Arizona starting pitchers gave up two earned runs with four walks in 25 innings in the series, but came up empty in the win department.
Dodgers starter Carlos Monasterios allowed two hits and struck out three in his five innings of work in a no-decision.
