The Arizona Diamondbacks lost in walk-off fashion for the third straight game when Los Angeles Dodgers’ Matt Kemp broke a scoreless tie Tuesday with a 10th-inning walk-off home run at Dodgers Stadium.
It extended Arizona’s overall losing streak to nine, including the first eight on a nine-game road trip.
Kemp took a 2-2 pitch from reliever Juan Gutierrez into the left-field seats to add more pain to the last-place Diamondbacks.
Gutierrez has given up 10 home runs in 18 1/3 innings on the season and falls to 0-5.
The loss was a disservice to the outing Arizona starter Dan Haren.
Haren went eight innings, allowed seven hits, no walks and struck out seven. It was a very important start for the right-hander as he searches to find himself after his last four outings produced an ERA of 7.92.
Dodgers rookie starter John Ely might have been even better as he went seven scoreless innings while allowing two hits with two walks and struck out five.
The win went to reliever Jeff Weaver, who improved to 3-1 with his one inning of scoreless relief.
