Conor Jackson scored the tiebreaking run on a wild pitch and Mark Reynolds had three RBIs as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the visiting San Francisco Giants, 8-7, on Thursday night.
Jackson led off the bottom of the eighth with a double and eventually scored when Jeremy Affeldt (2-3) uncorked a wild pitch while pitching to Reynolds with two out.
Arizona swept the two-game series from San Francisco, which fell into third place in the National League West.
Both teams put together five-run innings during the middle frames.
Arizona scored five in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead with Stephen Drew tripling in the first two runs and Mark Reynolds capping the inning with a two-run homer.
San Francisco rebounded with its own five-run outburst in the top of the sixth. Juan Uribe and John Bowker hit solo homers and Aubrey Huff had a two-run double.
The Diamondbacks tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh on run-scoring doubles by Reynolds and Chris Young.
Arizona’s Aaron Heilman (1-1) recorded the victory with 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief. Chad Qualls retired Juan Uribe for the final out for his seventh save.
Giants ace Tim Lincecum had his roughest outing of the year. Lincecum allowed five runs and five hits in five innings.
Arizona starter Rodrigo Lopez gave up six runs and 10 hits in five innings.
