Fred Lewis had four hits and drove in a pair of runs as the Toronto Blue Jays wrapped up a grueling nine-game road trip with a 7-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.
Toronto finished with a 3-6 record on the trip, which took them to Tampa Bay, Colorado and San Diego. Lewis' big night, in which he finished a home run short of the cycle, helped the Jays take two of three from the Padres.
Vernon Wells and John Buck homered for Toronto in a winning cause, while Lyle Overbay went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored.
Winning pitcher Ricky Romero (6-3) did the rest, allowing an unearned run on five hits over six solid innings. He walked three and struck out five.
Kevin Correia (5-5) absorbed the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits over five innings. He allowed both Blue Jays home runs while walking one and striking out two.
