Vernon Wells continued his season-long mastery of the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, belting a pair of homers as the Blue Jays earned an 8-5 win.
Wells has ravaged Rangers pitching all year, hitting .448 (13-for-29) with eight homers and 16 RBIs in eight meetings. Solo shots off losing pitcher Scott Feldman (6-10) in the fourth inning and reliever Darren O'Day in the seventh give him four homers and eight RBIs in his last three games.
Wells finished with three hits as the Jays handed Texas its fifth consecutive loss.
Adam Lind hit his 20th home run and John Buck added his 17th for the Jays, who have six home runs over the first two games of the series.
Shaun Marcum (12-7) put the offense to good use, limiting the Rangers to three runs on six hits over seven strong innings. He walked two and struck out eight.
Feldman was charged with four runs on seven hits in his 4 2/3-inning stint. He was making an emergency start in place of Cliff Lee, who sat out with a back injury.
Vladimir Guerrero had a two-run homer in defeat for Texas.
