David Price became the first 11-game winner in the American League as the Tampa Bay Rays edged the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 on Saturday.
Price (11-3) allowed two runs on seven hits in eight innings as the Rays rebounded from Friday night's loss to Arizona when Edwin Jackson threw a no-hitter. Price struck out a career-high 11 and walked just one.
Sean Rodriguez and Jason Bartlett combined for four RBIs in the game. Carlos Pena drove in the other Rays’ run with a grounder.
Rafael Soriano pitched the ninth for his 18th save of the year, despite giving up a home run.
Ian Kennedy (3-6) took the loss. He allowed just two hits in 5 2/3 innings but walked nine while striking out seven and was charged with four runs.
Justin Upton and Chris Young hit solo homers for the Diamondbacks. Arizona also scored on a RBI double by Chris Snyder in the sixth.
