Mitch Moreland hit two home runs and Jeff Francoeur and David Murphy also went deep as the Texas Rangers routed the host Oakland Athletics 16-9 on Sunday.
Moreland had five RBIs while Francoeur and Murphy drove in four apiece as the Rangers had a season-high 22 hits one day after clinching the American League West crown.
Texas knocked nemesis Trevor Cahill (17-8) out of the game after four innings. The Oakland All-Star was 3-0 against the Rangers this season before being rocked for seven runs and 12 hits.
Francoeur had four hits and Moreland was one of four Rangers who had three hits.
Texas led 9-1 before Oakland tallied six times in the eighth on a two-run single by Gabe Gross, a three-run homer by Steve Tolleson and a bloop single by Josh Donaldson.
The Rangers responded by scoring seven runs in the ninth, capped by Moreland’s three-run homer.
Rangers starter Colby Lewis (12-13) gave up one run and six hits in six innings. Lewis struck out six.
Rajai Davis had four of Oakland’s 13 hits.
