Gio Gonzalez threw seven scoreless innings, Coco Crisp homered and had three RBIs and the Oakland Athletics cruised to a 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday.
The Athletics got an early lead in the first, as Rangers starter Rich Harden walked in a run. Mark Ellis made it a 2-0 lead with a sacrifice fly.
Crisp belted a solo home run in the second. Crisp came through again with sacrifice flies in the fourth and sixth.
Matt Watson added an RBI double in the sixth for the A’s.
That was plenty of support for Gonzalez (10-7). He allowed only four hits with three walks and two strikeouts over seven innings.
The Rangers avoided a shutout in the eighth, as backup catcher Taylor Teagarden went deep. David Murphy added an RBI single in the ninth.
Harden (4-4) took the loss, lasting only 2 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on two hits with five walks and two strikeouts.
