Juan Uribe had two RBIs and Brian Wilson got the final five outs as the San Francisco Giants defeated the visiting Oakland Athletics 5-4 on Saturday night.
Uribe singled in San Francisco’s first run in the opening inning and singled in another in the third as the Giants beat Oakland for the second consecutive night.
Oakland scored twice in the eighth before Wilson entered with the bases loaded and one out. The Giants closer struck out Adam Rosales and retired Rajai Davis on a groundball to preserve the lead.
Mark Ellis and Jack Cust singled in the ninth before Wilson retired Landon Powell on a grounder to end the game for his 17th save.
Barry Zito (7-2) gave up two runs and six hits in seven innings while beating his former team for the first time in five career decisions.
Both runs off Zito came courtesy of homers – Matt Carson hit one in the second and Rosales homered in the seventh.
Oakland starter Ben Sheets (2-6) gave up five runs – three earned – and eight hits in six innings.
Pablo Sandoval homered in the sixth for San Francisco.
Athletics third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff went 3-for-5, including a run-scoring double in the eighth inning, to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.
