Josh Donaldson belted a two-run homer and Gio Gonzalez pitched 6 2/3 strong innings to lead the Oakland Athletics to a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.
Donaldson's home run, his first major league hit, gave Oakland a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. Rajai Davis and Eric Patterson also had RBIs for the Athletics, who snapped a six-game road losing streak.
Gonzalez (3-1) allowed two runs on three hits while striking out eight. Andrew Bailey got the final four outs of the game for his third save of the season. He has not allowed a run in nine appearances.
Dana Eveland (2-1) took the loss for the Jays. He was tagged with all four runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings.
The Blue Jays chipped away at a 4-0 deficit. Vernon Wells had an RBI grounder in the fourth inning and Lyle Overbay and Fred Lewis had run-scoring doubles in the seventh.
