Peter Bourjos hit a tie-breaking homer in the sixth inning and Hideki Matsui hit a two-run shot to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-2 victory over the host Texas Rangers in Sunday's regular-season finale.
Matsui slammed a two-run homer in the fourth inning and Bourjos greeted Texas reliever Dustin Nippert (4-5) with a leadoff homer in the sixth.
Angels starter Dan Haren (5-4) won his fourth consecutive decision, allowing two runs and seven hits in six innings.
Texas scored both runs off Haren in the fifth inning on run-scoring singles by Bengie Molina and Julio Borbon.
The Angels broke the game open with three ninth-inning runs. Alberto Callaspo singled in one run and Mark Trumbo drove in a pair with his first major-league hit.
Rangers starter Colby Lewis gave up just one hit – Matsui’s two-run homer – in five innings in his final tune-up before the postseason.
Texas meets Tampa Bay in the American League playoffs, beginning Wednesday in St. Petersburg, Fla.
