Torii Hunter homered and scored the winning run as the Los Angeles Angels earned a 4-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.
Trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning, the Angels got to Oakland starter Dallas Braden. Bobby Abreu and Hunter singled before Mike Napoli drove in Abreu with the tying run. Hideki Matsui grounded out to second, scoring Hunter for a 3-2 lead.
Hunter hit his 22nd homer in the second to open the scoring. Howie Kendrick added an insurance run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly.
Dan Haren (11-12) earned the victory, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings. Fernando Rodney pitched the ninth for his 14th save.
Braden (10-14) lost for the fourth time in five games. He allowed four runs, three earned, on 10 hits in seven innings.
Kevin Kouzmanoff homered for Oakland in the fourth and Mark Ellis gave the Athletics a 2-1 lead with an RBI single in the fifth.
The teams are tied for second place in the AL West at 77-80 and conclude their three-game series Wednesday afternoon.
