Gio Gonzalez pitched six shutout innings and Kevin Kouzmanoff and Cliff Pennington hit two-run homers in a six-run seventh, leading the Oakland Athletics to an 8-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.
Gonzalez (13-8) held the Angels to four hits, struck out six and walked three as the A's snapped a four-game losing streak.
Scott Kazmir (8-13) lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and two hits while issuing six walks. The outing was an improvement from his July 10 start in Oakland when he was allowed 11 hits and 13 runs in five innings.
The A's took a 2-0 lead into the seventh, and Kouzmanoff's home run off Jason Bulger gave Oakland a four-run lead. Rajai Davis and Gabe Gross had RBI singles before Pennington homered off Brian Stokes.
The A's scored in the first when Jack Cust drew a bases-loaded walk and again in the sixth on Coco Crisp's RBI single.
Los Angeles managed five hits off Gonzalez, Michael Wuertz, Henry Rodriguez and Brad Ziegler.
