Jonathan Herrera’s single in the top of the 11th inning proved to be the difference as the Colorado Rockies recorded a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.
After the first two batters of the 11th were retired, Chris Iannetta doubled and Melvin Mora drew a walk. That set the stage for Herrera, who singled to left off Francisco Rodriguez (1-1) to score Iannetta with the go-ahead run.
That made a winner of Matt Belisle (3-3) asManny Corpas earned his 10th save by stranding the tying run at third base in the 11th.
Iannetta was one of the few batters to solve Angels starter Jered Weaver, connecting for a two-run homer in the fifth inning for the 2-1 advantage.
Weaver allowed two runs on five hits and struck out 11 batters, leaving with a 3-2 lead after the seventh only to see the bullpen give it away.
Carlos Gonzalez evened things up in the eighth with a single off Fernando Rodney to help send it to extras.
Torii Hunter, Jeff Mathis and Reggie Willits all drove in a run in the losing effort.
