Howie Kendrick had three hits including the go-ahead single in the seventh inning to help the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Tuesday’s interleague matchup.
Kendrick delivered a two-out single to right field off reliever Ronald Belisario that scored Jeff Mathis from third base. Kevin Frandsen followed with a two-run double.
The Dodgers had a 3-0 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning before the Angels tied the game on Bobby Abreu’s three-run homer. They have lost five consecutive games.
Brandon Wood walked and Kendrick singled to start the sixth before Abreu hit a one-out homer to center off Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw.
The Dodgers scored two in the top of the third with Andre Ethier and James Loney both delivering run-scoring singles.
Matt Kemp homered in the fourth to give the Dodgers the three-run lead.
Angels starter Ervin Santana (7-5) pitched seven innings for the victory. Santana gave up three runs and eight hits.
Fernando Rodney pitched the eighth and Brian Fuentes finished up for his 11th save.
Kershaw (7-4) allowed just one hit over the first five innings. He was charged with five runs and gave up six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
