Josh Fields' two-run homer broke a fourth-inning tie and led the Kansas City Royals to a 10-8 win over the Minnesota Twins on Monday night.
The Twins have lost four consecutive games and are 1-4 since clinching the American League Central on Sept. 21.
Jason Kubel had five RBIs with a two-run double in the first and a
three-run homer in the fourth for the Twins, but Kansas City scored six
times in the second, once in the third and three in the fourth.
Lucas May drove in three runs for the Royals. He had a two-run double in the second and a sacrifice fly in the third.
Jarrod Dyson's first major league home run, a two-run shot, and May's two-run double highlighted the Royals' big second inning.
Minnesota scored three in the first and five in the fourth.
Phillip Humber (2-1) allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings for the win. Jeff Manship (2-1) gave up three runs in 2 1/3 innings to absorb the loss.
Joakim Soria pitched the ninth for his 42nd save in 44 chances and 35th in a row.
Neither starter was involved in the decision. Kyle Davies gave up eight hits and seven runs in 3 1/3 innings while Kevin Slowey allowed six runs and six hits in 1 2/3 innings.
