Chipper Jones had a big day and the Atlanta Braves' bullpen came through to lead the Braves to an 8-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday in an interleague matchup.
The Braves completed a sweep of the Royals with the win and improved their major league-leading home record to 24-7. Atlanta has won five straight overall.
Jones went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, he scored twice and drew a pair of walks. Jones started Atlanta's four-run first with a two-run double and he later came around to score in the inning. He added an RBI double in the fifth to tie the game at 5-5.
Atlanta pulled away in the eight, scoring three runs when Eric Hinske scored two on a double and Melky Cabrera added an RBI single.
Craig Kimbrel (2-0) picked up the win, working around a pair of walks in the eighth with two strikeouts. Billy Wagner gave up a hit in the ninth but managed to earn his 14th save of the season.
Blake Wood (0-1) took the loss after yielding three runs and three hits with a pair of walks in the eighth.
Chris Getz went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Kansas City, which has lost four of five.
