Yuniesky Betancourt had three hits and drove in four runs to lift the Kansas City Royals to a 6-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday in the first game of a three-game interleague series.
Betancourt singled in the game-winning run to center in the 11th to plate Billy Butler and give the Royals a 6-5 lead.
Victor Marte (1-0) allowed two hits in the 10th to pick up the win. Joakim Soria worked around two hits in the 11th to earn his 15th save of the season.
Cincinnati led 4-0 before Kansas City rallied to take a 5-4 lead with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Betancourt had an RBI double and scored in the fifth and added a two-run home run in the sixth to give the Royals the lead.
Micah Owings (3-2) allowed one run, a hit and two walks in the 11th to take the loss.
