Kevin Slowey allowed three hits over seven masterful innings as the Minnesota Twins cruised past the Kansas City Royals 7-3 Tuesday night.
Slowey (7-3) won his third straight decision by putting together his strongest outing of the season. Aside from a David DeJesus double, Kansas City managed just two singles against the veteran right-hander, who struck out three and didn't walk a batter.
With seven scoreless innings on Tuesday Slowey has surrendered just four runs over his past 26 1/3 innings spanning four starts.
He had plenty of offensive help, as the Twins pounded out 12 hits against Royals pitching. Jason Kubel ended a 5-for-27 drought with two hits, including his seventh home run of the season. Denard Span added two hits and a pair of RBIs.
Zack Greinke (1-8) continued his forgettable campaign. The defending American League Cy Young winner was tagged for six runs on nine hits in five innings as he has already matched his loss total from all of last season.
Jose Guillen and Mike Aviles had two hits and an RBI apiece for the Royals, who have dropped four of six. Matt Tolbert drove in the other Kansas City run on an eighth-inning sacrifice fly.
