Billy Butler and David DeJesus drove in two runs apiece and Brian Bannister picked up his fourth straight win with a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday.
Three relievers combined to toss 3 2/3 scoreless innings and Jose Guillen added a solo homer for the Royals, who snapped a three-game slide.
The Angels held a 2-1 lead into the fifth, when Kansas City broke through with four runs off right-hander Joel Pineiro (3-6). Yuniesky Betancourt led off with a triple and came in to tie it 2-2 on Chris Getz’s single.
Scott Podsednik singled and Jason Kendall popped out before DeJesus plated a pair with an RBI triple. Butler capped the frame with a sacrifice fly.
Los Angeles got one back on Maicer Izturis’ solo homer leading off the sixth but could not get anything going after that.
Bannister (5-3) hung around just long enough to get credit for the win, allowing three runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 frames.
