Carlos Quentin hit a grand slam and knocked in six runs as the Chicago White Sox posted an 11-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Andruw Jones had three hits, including a home run, and Gordon Beckham had two hits and a pair of RBIs for Chicago.
Toronto starter Brandon Morrow (0-1) was lit up for 10 earned runs on 10 hits and had three walks in five innings. He gave both home runs and allowed at least one run in every inning.
Beckham doubled home a run in the third and A.J. Pierzynski plated a run with a single in the fourth. Quentin then went deep with the bases full in the fifth to build a 7-0 lead.
John Danks (1-0) got the win for his seven innings of one-run ball. He allowed only two hits and struck out six.
Toronto scored its lone run on an RBI single by Jose Bautista in the of the fifth.
The White Sox scored four more runs in the sixth to account for the final score, highlighted by Quentin’s two-run double.
