Ramon Santiago drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning to lead the Detroit Tigers to 7-6 come-from-behind win over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.
The Red Sox, who once lead by five runs in the game, fell to 1-6 in extra-inning games on the season.
Jon Lester struck out 10 in seven innings and left with a 6-4 lead but the Boston bullpen, which has struggled this season, could not hold it. The Tigers scored twice off Hideki Okajima in the eighth inning to tie the game.
Ramon Ramirez entered the game with two on and one out in the 12th inning. He walked Brandon Inge, struck out the next batter, but then walked Santiago on four pitches to force in the game-winner as Manny Delcarmen was dealt the loss (1-2).
Brennan Boesch had four hits and two RBIs for the Tigers. Magglio Ordonez had three hits including a home run in the eighth that started the game-tying rally. Inge hit a double later in the inning to tie the score at 6-6.
David Ortiz had three hits and two RBIs and Bill Hall homered for the second consecutive night for Boston.
Jose Valverde (1-1) pitched the 12th inning for the win.
