Billy Butler had two hits and drove in two runs, leading the visiting Kansas City Royals to a 4-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.
Kansas City won for the third time in four games since manager Trey Hillman was fired last week and replaced by Ned Yost.
Baltimore had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but Royals closer Joakim Soria escaped the jam for his 10th save.
Yuniesky Betancourt had two hits and drove in a run and David DeJesus also added a pair of hits for the Royals, who got a solid outing from starter Kyle Davies.
Davies (3-2) went six innings, giving up a pair of runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking one.
Corey Patterson reached base three times and scored three runs for the Orioles, who fell to 3-4 on their current eight-game homestand.
Ty Wigginton drove in a pair of runs and extended his hitting streak to eight games for Baltimore.
Brad Bergesen (3-3), who had won his last three starts for the Orioles after being recalled from the minors, labored through 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits.
Butler has now hit safely in seven straight games, going 10-for-26.
