Flyers 4, Red Wings 2: Brayden Schenn scored a power-play goal with 8:55 remaining in the third period to snap a tie and Philadelphia went on to post its ninth straight regular-season home win over Detroit.
Michael Raffl recorded two goals and an assist while defenseman Nicklas Grossmann also tallied for the Flyers, who recorded their first home victory of the season. Jakub Voracek and blue-liner Michael Del Zotto each notched a pair of assists while Ray Emery turned aside 35 shots.
Riley Sheahan and Pavel Datsyuk scored for the Red Wings, who had their five-game point streak snapped. Jonas Gustavsson made 13 saves in his second start of the season.
Just over a minute after Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall was called for holding, Schenn cashed in on the power-play opportunity to put the Flyers ahead. Voracek made a pass from the right wing that Schenn redirected past Gustavsson with Wayne Simmonds providing a screen in front.
Sheahan opened the scoring with 4:27 remaining in the first period, but Grossmann forged a tie with 1:39 left in the second as he pinched in from the left point and converted Chris Vandevelde's pass from the right corner. Raffl scored at 6:01 of the third to give Philadelphia a lead that lasted only 42 seconds as Datsyuk beat Emery from alone in front after Darren Helm outmuscled Blair Jones at the blue line to keep the puck in the offensive zone.
